La Cantera trains young players from under-resourced Miami neighborhoods — and walks with them all the way to the university gate.
Support a player See how it worksLa Cantera is a nonprofit that treats soccer as a way in, not an end in itself. We give young people — especially those from under-resourced communities — structured athletic development, academic support, and adults who show up consistently.
A quarry is where raw stone becomes something built. That is the work: every training session, every away match, every conversation after practice is shaping a future that was not guaranteed.
We measure ourselves in kids on the field and doors opened — not in impressions.
Most of our players will not turn professional. All of them will need these.
Showing up on time, prepared, week after week — the habit that transfers to everything else.
Learning to lose a match on Saturday and train well on Monday.
Trusting a teammate with something that matters, and being worth that trust.
Setting a goal, missing it, adjusting, and reaching it — then believing it again.
An active body and the nutrition and rest habits that keep it that way for life.
Older players coaching younger ones. Nothing teaches faster than being responsible for someone.
We are proud to announce that our player Camilo has joined St. Thomas University men's soccer on a full scholarship.”
La Cantera, signing day
Camilo came up through local fields with no clear route to a university. Four years of training, academic tutoring, and a coach who made the calls turned that into a signed scholarship offer.
He is the first. He will not be the last — there are eleven more players in his age group with the grades and the game to follow him, and our job is to make sure the paperwork, the film, and the recruiter conversations are already in motion.
Better facilities, more scholarships, more teams. Every one of those needs people behind it — tell us which part you want to be.
